Abstract
Objective To establish a secondary warehouse for disposable low-value medical consumables and optimize the management of medical consumables through information system. Methods The secondary warehouse management system was applied to the management of disposable medical low-value consumables in our hospital to achieve the following functions:warehouse inventory management, consumable application, transfer and delivery, inventory control and early warning supervision, system authority and security, management system maintenance and integration with other systems. The effectiveness of the system was verified by comparing the number of consumables applied for before and after management, the total amount of expenditure, the daily and monthly consumables checking time, and the consumables overflow rate. Results By the end of December 2022,371 secondary warehouses had been built and put into use in our hospital. In 2022,the total number of patients increased by 9.50%,the total number of consumable applications decreased by 5.48%,and the total amount of expenditure decreased by 8.24% .Furthermore, after implementing the management system, the time taken for daily and monthly consumable reconciliation has shown significant improvement compared to before(P<0.05).Additionally,the absolute overflow rates of ordinary syringes, intravenous infusion needles, insulin syringes, insulin needles, precision infusion sets, blood glucose test strips, indwelling needles, disposable nasal catheters, sterile gauze, sterile cotton balls and blood gas analysis sets were all demonstrated a significant decrease compared to before implementation(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of the secondary warehouse information management system in the management of disposable medical consumables can ensure the safety of the use of consumables and reduce the manpower, time and operating cost of the hospital's medical consumables.关键词
