Global trends in Ankylosing Spondylitis research over the past decade based on biblio-metrics

Abstract
Objective Ankylosing spondylitis(AS)is an autoimmune disease belonging to the category of spondyloarthropathies.Research on AS has shown consistent growth in recent decades.Employing bibliometric analysis,this study aims to shed light on the predominant research domains within the field of AS.Methods The publications analyzed in this study were drawn from the SCI-Expanded Science Citation Index(SCI-Ex-panded)within the Web of Science Core Collection(WoSCC),spanning the years 2013 to 2023.To conduct a comprehensive examination of the research landscape,bibliometric analysis and visual analysis were performed using VOSviewer,CiteSpace,and Excel software.This analysis encompassed various aspects,such as annual publication output,prominent countries,top institutions,influential journals,notable authors,frequently co-cited references,and the burst of keywords.Results A comprehensive analysis of 1193 selected articles was conducted,following an extensive search and screening process.It was observed that there has been a signifi-cant increase in the number of studies related to AS over the past decade.Among the countries contributing to this field,the United States emerged as the most productive.Notably,the University of Toronto in Canada e-merged as the most prolific institution.Among the top 10 journals,the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases re-ceived the highest number of citations.Denis Poddubnyy,a distinguished researcher from Germany,published several very remarkable papers in this area.The prominent keywords in AS research include"Th17 cells"、"antitumor necrosis factor".Conclusion This study aims to elucidate the current research status and identify the forefront hotspots within the field of AS research.Furthermore,it offers valuable scientific data to support future research directions in this domain.关键词
