Effect of PNF Technique on Knee Hyperextension and Lower Limb Motor Function in Stroke Patients

Abstract
Objective:To examine the effects of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation(PNF)techniques on knee hyperextension and lower limb motor function in stroke patients.Methods:Sixty stroke patients who underwent rehabilitation treatment in Rehabilitation Medicine Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College from June 2021 to June 2022 were selected and randomly divided into control group(n=30)and experimental group(n=30).The control group received standard rehabilitation treatment,while the experimental group received isotonic PNF combinations,rhythm stabilization,and dynamic reversal techniques in addition to standard rehabilitation treatment.These techniques aimed to strengthen the muscles around the knee joint and provide proprioception training,to improve knee joint control and lower limb motor function.Two groups of patients were evaluated for treatment effectiveness by measuring the knee joint extension angle,and the improvement of lower limb motor function in stroke patients was evaluated using the FMA-L score scale,BBS score scale,and the results of calculating the maximum walking speed and average stride length of 10m.Results:After three weeks of treatment,both groups showed significant improvements in knee hyperextension angle,FMA-L score,BBS score,10-meter maximum walking speed and average step length.Moreover,the experimental group showed significantly greater improvement than the control group(P<0.01).Conclusion:Isotonic PNF combination,rhythmic stabilization,and dynamic inversion tech-niques can enhance muscle strength and proprioception around the knee joint,improve knee joint stability and control,and improve lower limb motor function in patients with hemiplegia after stroke.关键词
