Abstract

At a depth of 400 to 500 meters in an oil well,drill pipe 1 fractures during the stick-freeing process,followed by the fracture of drill pipe 2 during the fishing process.The reasons for the fracture of the two drill pipes are analyzed using fracture morphology analysis,chemical composition analysis,microstructure analysis and mechanical properties testing.The results show that during the friction between drill pipe 1 and the wellbore,phase transformation occurs,the strength decrease while the plasticity increase,and ductile fracture occurred.When drill pipe 2 rubs against the wellbore,phase transformation occurs,a large amount of martensite is formed,and the toughness deteriorates.The brittle fracture occurs when the drill pipe 2 is pulled again.It is recommended to detect structural changes in the well,ensure smooth circulation of drilling fluid,and optimize the structural design of drilling tools to prevent the drill pipe from breaking due to phase transformation.Meanwhile,workers are prohibited from violating the regulations to avoid the fracture of drill pipes due to overloading.
