Experimental Study on the Dynamic Shear Behavior of Composite Liner Interface in Landfills

Abstract
Landfill is the main disposal method of municipal solid waste in China.Liner system is a vital part for modern municipal solid waste(MSW)landfills due to its essential function as a barrier between pollutants and environment.However,due to the relatively lower shear strength between landfill liners,the composite liner interface may become the potential slip interface under earthquake loading,which will lead to instability of the landfill.In this paper,a series of dynamic shear tests considering the effect of shear displacement amplitude were carried out by using a large interface direct shear apparatus,the shear stress-displacement relations and dynamic shear strength evolution process of textured HDPE geomembrane-compacted clay composite liner interface were obtained.The amplitude correlation between dynamic shear modulus and dynamic damping ratio were further analyzed.The comparisons between existing data on other composite liner materials validate the efficiency of textured geomembrane-compacted clay when the landfill exposed to dynamic loading.关键词
