Isotope hydrological analysis of water source for riparian plants in Jiaozuo Section of the Yellow River

Abstract
Objectives To explore the water supply source of the riparian plants,Methods typical riparian ecological plants in the middle reaches of the Yellow River are taken as the research object in this paper.The characteristics of hydrogen and oxygen stable isotopes,chloride ion concentrations,and soil moisture content are analyzed,and the Bayesian mixed model MixSIAR was used to analyze the water sources of ri-parian ecological vegetation.Results The results reveal that the δ2H-δ18O map shows the soil water line of δ2H=5.74 δ18O-15.67,with its slope significantly lower than the local atmospheric precipitation line slope LMWL.The soil water lc-excess(degree of deviation of soil water isotope points from LMWL)value shows that soil water isotope δ2H-δ18O relationship points deviate significantly from LMWL.The δ2H and δ18O val-ues of the xylem water of riparian plants(Phragmites australis and Tamarix chinensis Lour)overlaps with the soil water line.The vertical soil moisture content,stable isotopes(δ2H,δ18O),and Cl-mass concentration had significant stratification characteristics.The simulation results of the Bayesian MixSIAR indicate that soil water contributes 60.3%~73.6%the water content of Tamarix and Phragmites australis,while river wa-ter contributes 10.3%~24.7%of it.What comes next is phreatic water.The corrected calculation results show that the contribution rate of river water to plant water has increased significantly,reaching a maximum of 30.3%,and the contribution rate of soil water decreased to 53.9%~60.6%.Conclusions The hydraulic con-nection between precipitation,river water,groundwater,and soil water in the research area is close,with a strong replenishment relationship,and the soil water is subject to excessive evaporation.The main source of plant water is soil water,followed by river water.The soil moisture content of different layers(shallow,middle and deep layers)shows different trends with the increase of buried depth with increasing burial depth due to different main water sources,and soil moisture content is a key factor affecting plant water use.The re-search results have certain theoretical significance for the study of water utilization mechanism of typical ri-parian plants.关键词
