Research progress on fire resistance of modern timber structures
摘要
Abstract
The research on the fire resistance of modern timber structures is extremely challenging due to wood's combustibility,complexity of fire prediction,and diverse influencing factors.This paper provides a comprehensive review of research progress on fire resistance of modern timber structures,spanning from the thermal behavior of wood during fires to member and joint analyses,and onward to structural considerations.The main contents include ignition,pyrolysis,and charring of timber,fire resistance of timber members and joints,and overall structural fire performance.Existing research indicates a clearer understanding of the wood combustion mechanisms,component fire resistance,joint connectivity,and structural fire performance.In addition,prediction models for ignition,pyrolysis,and char formation have also been developed,establishing fundamental links between structural design and fire safety.In order to meet the overall fire safety design standards for modern timber structures,accurate fire models,advanced thermal models,and structural models should be developed.Emphasizing the study of structural behavior across the entire fire duration under natural conditions is crucial.Future research should prioritize exploring temperature effects on tall,large-span timber structures and their overall fire performance.Methodologically,research should advance towards performance-based fire safety designs,thereby fostering the evolution of modern timber structures towards taller buildings,larger spaces and wider spans.关键词
