Residues and bioavailability of neonicotinoid pesticides in Shaanxi agricultural soil

Abstract

The contamination residues of imidacloprid,thiamethoxam,clothianidin,and acetamiprid in different areas of Shaanxi Province were studied to assess the potential environmental risks of neonicotinoid pesticides.Furthermore,the bioavailability of different neonicotinoid pesticides and their influencing factors were investigated.The findings revealed that imidacloprid,acetamiprid,clothianidin,and thiamethoxam residues were at ND-113.71 μg·kg-1,ND-19.48 μg·kg-1,ND-184.32 μg·kg-1,and ND-145.02 μg·kg-1,respectively,in agricultural soils in Shaanxi Province.The high residual concentrations of clothianidin and thiamethoxam in agricultural soils should be adequately examined.The bioavailability of neonicotinoids exhibited the following trend:the bioavailability of neonicotinoids,such as clothianidin,imidacloprid,acetamiprid,and thiamethoxam,increased with elevated soil pH and reduced with an increase in the organic matter of soil and aging.It is crucial to monitor neonicotinoid pesticide residues in the agricultural soils of Shaanxi Province.Moreover,the bioavailability of ne-onicotinoid pesticides can be assessed quickly and easily using Tenax single-point extraction technology.This study provides a foundation for assessing the quality and safety of crops as well as a framework for evaluating the pollution of neonicotinoid insecti-cides in agricultural soil.
