Abstract

The contents of 14 metal elements in 11 commonly used cosmetic grade Chinese herbal extracts were determined,and the relationship between metal element content and conductivity was analyzed by conductivity determination.The results showed that the contents of K,Na,Mg,and Ca in the Chinese herbal extracts were the highest,and the higher the content of the active ingredients in the Chinese herbal extracts,the higher the metal ions,which was positively correlated.There was a positive correlation between the conductivity of Chinese herbal extracts and the content of metal elements,and the contents of metal elements were higher in Chinese herbal extracts with high conductivity.The trace metal elements introduced into the extracts of Chinese herbal medicines will reduce the viscosity of the system and affect the stability of cosmetic formulations.In this paper,six representative polyacrylic acid thickeners were screened according to the degree of molecular crosslinking,and the experimental results showed that the lower the degree of polyacrylic acid crosslinking,the stronger the ion resistance performance.
