Abstract

In order to enhance the safety monitoring of special structures such as extruded sidewalls,high toe piers,and high toe walls in a high panel rockfill dam project,the shortcomings and deficiencies in the safety mo-nitoring design of these special structures are summarized based on the safety monitoring design data of panel rock-fill dams.By gathering and organizing numerical analysis results of high concrete face rockfill dams with special-ized structures of high toe piers,high toe walls,and extruded sidewalls in China,we unearthed the deformation and stress-strain laws of specialized structures.Furthermore,we identified deformation,stress-strain,tempera-ture,joints,and seepage of specialized structures as the key points of safety monitoring design.Based on the safety monitoring design data of existing panel rockfill dam projects,we formulated a safety monitoring design sys-tem for the specialized structures of high panel rockfill dams.This system can provide scientific guidance for the safety monitoring design of specialized structures of under-construction and planned panel rockfill dams,thereby significantly enhancing the safety monitoring level of panel rockfill dams.
