Abstract

To investigate the safety of existing wagons when the maximum running speed of the train is increased from 80 km/h to 90 km/h in a heavy-haul railway and to assess the feasibility of the speed-raising,the multi-heavy-haul wagon model considering the train service conditions and structures of the coupler and draft gear is established based on the multi-body dynamics theory,and the model is validated by field test data.Through numerical simulations,non-linear critical speeds of C80-type and C64K-type wagons under empty and loaded status are studied,and the dynamic performances of C80-type and C64K-type wagons before and after speed-raising are compared and analyzed.Moreover,the influences of key parameters of the bogie on running safety of wagons are studied.Simulation results indicate that the non-linear critical speeds of C80-type wagon under empty and loaded status are 124 km/h and 180 km/h,while those of C64K-type wagon are 92 km/h and 112 km/h.Compared with the loaded wagons,the non-linear critical speeds of the empty C80-type and C64K-type wagons decrease by 18% and 31% respectively.Therefore,the stability of empty wagons is poorer than that of loaded wagons.When the train running speed is increased to 90 km/h,the wheel load reduction rate and the frame lateral acceleration of the C64K-type wagon exceed the limits,while all indices of the C80-type wagon are within limits.For the C64K-type wagon,the lateral clearance of the guide frame in the primary suspension has little influence on the wheel-rail dynamics performance,but the dynamic performance indicators increase with the decrease of friction coefficient of the guide frame.
