Abstract
Ningbo Yasai Weir is an integral part of the Grand Canal's Ningbo section,functioning as a crucial engineering structure that controls the water volume regulation between the inner Tanghe and the outer Tidal River.In March 2013,Ningbo"Yasai Weir Site"was recognized and listed as a national heritage protection site as part of the Grand Canal Yaojiang Water Conservancy and Navigation Facilities.Given its ancient origins and the evolution of the water system,the name and location of the site have historically been subjects of confusion.This study,grounded in archaeological investigation,on-site visits,and a thorough review of the historical materials and inscriptions,identifies and examines the precise location,evolution and operational mechanisms of the Yasai Weir and its associated water conservancy projects and ancillary facilities.The research determines that the Yasai Weir is situated at the confluence of the Nijiayan River(formerly Xida River)and Airport River(formerly Chuanxin River)in the Yasaiyan Community,Yongjiang Street,Jiangbei District,Ningbo Municipal,Zhejiang Province.Since the Ming Dynasty a series of water management structures,including Yujia Weir,Yujia Sluice(Wuyan Water Sluice),and Guogong Sluice have been constructed downstream of the Weir,collectively contributing to the"Yasai Weir Site"within the Grand Canal Yaojiang Water Conservancy and Navigation Facilities.The Yasai Weir and the"Yasai Weir Site"together constitute a hydraulic engineering hub that integrates the functions of transportation and agricultural irrigation.It is hereby recommended that both be included within the scope of existing national heritage protection site for comprehensive protection and research.关键词
