Abstract

The Liriodendron sino-americanum,an excellent species for landscaping and ecological afforestation,faces promotion challenges due to the difficulty in rooting from cuttings,which limit its widespread application.This study explored he effects of different substrates on the rooting of soft-wood cutting of L.sino-americanum,with an emphasis on the relationship between substrate tem-perature,pH value,and rooting rate.The results showed significant differences in rooting rate and decay rate of cuttings among seven substrate combinations.When using a substrate combination of red soil,vermiculite,and perlite in a ratio of 1∶1∶1,the rooting rate of cuttings was the highest at 62.97%,higher than the average rooting rate of 38.87%across seven substrate different combi-nations;the decay rate was the lowest at 29.14%,lower than the average decay rate of 45.80%for different combination,and the the weight of substrate as relatively light.The type of substrate suit-able for softwood cuttings should be acidic.Correlation analysis showed that when the surface tem-perature of the seedling bed maintained at 31℃,substrate temperature,and temperature difference between substrate and seedling bed surface were negatively correlated with rooting rate of cuttings,and extremely significant positive correlation with rot rate of cuttings.Therefore,a substrate combi-nation of red soil,vermiculite,and perlite in a 1∶1∶1 ratio is more suitable for L.sino-americanum softwood cuttings.
