Endogenous Growth Potential and Improvement Path of China's Grain Production Efficiency

Abstract
Based on the non-radial directional distance function and MGML index,this paper investigates the trend,endoge-nous growth potential and improvement sources of China's grain production efficiency,and then explores the optimization path to promote the high-quality development of grain industry.The results go as the following:China's overall grain production efficien-cy is not high,and it is characterized by a three-stage evolution of"decline-stability-rise"during the sample period,still with 22.3%room for improvement from the effective frontier in 2020.Input and unexpected output redundancy are the two main factors that hinder improvement of grain production efficiency.Non-point source pollution,carbon emissions and excessive input of labor and machinery all lead to a certain degree of efficiency loss.The improvement of China's grain production efficiency before 2015 mainly depended on technological progress,technological efficiency,and technological catch-up played a significant role after 2015.In China,the areas with declining grain production efficiency are mostly distributed to the south of Qinling Mountains and Huaihe River,and also in the border areas,and the factors leading to the decline of grain production efficiency are different in dif-ferent regions.The main grain-producing areas are mainly subject to technological regression;the main grain-selling areas are mainly subject to technical inefficiency,and the areas with balanced production and marketing are mainly subject to the increasing gap between their own technical level and the common frontier.关键词
