Study on the prevalence and influencing factors of dental caries in preschool children

Abstract
Objective To analyze the prevalence and influencing factors of dental caries in preschool children.Methods A total of 505 preschool children who underwent oral examination in two kindergartens from May to July 2022 in Qianwei County were selected as the study subjects.The incidence of caries in children was recorded and the risk factors of caries in children were analyzed by logistic regression.Results Among 505 children,386 had dental caries,with a caries incidence rate of 76.44%.There were no significant differences between the caries group and the non caries group in terms of gender,registered residence,and guardians(P>0.05).There were significant differences in the frequency of tooth brushing,the type of toothpaste,the frequency of sweet food intake,the age of starting tooth brushing,mouthwash after meals or eating,and regular oral examination between the two groups(P<0.05).Brushing frequency≤1 time/day,intake of sweets≥3 times/week,and age≥4 years old starting tooth brushing were the risk factors for caries in preschool children(P<0.05).The use of fluoride toothpaste,gargling after or after eating,and regular oral examination were protective factors for caries in preschool children(P<0.05).Conclusion The prevalence of dental caries in preschool children is high.Unreasonable eating habits and brushing habits are the risk factors for caries.Clinical should strengthen the health knowledge education,regulate the behavior of oral health.关键词
