Abstract

In this paper,based on the production practice of an electrolytic plant in a copper smelter in southern China,the relationship between the amount of additives and the quality of cathode copper was analyzed and discussed.The results show that the apparent quality of cathode copper can be improved by adjusting the ratio of bone glue,thiourea and chloride ion in electrolyte.Under the conditions of electrolysis temperature of 65℃,the current density of 235 A/m2,the electrolyte circulation speed of 30.5 L/min,the electrolysis cycle of 9-10 days,and homopolar distance of 100 mm.When the amount of bone glue is 62 g/(t·Cu),the amount of thiourea is 63 g/(t·Cu),and the amount of chloride ion is 55 mg/L,the appearance of cathode copper is the best,and the surface of the plate is dense and smooth,rose red and uniform color.
