Design and optimization of molten polymer flow pipelines based on CFD simulation and mathematical programming

Abstract
Reduction viscosity drop of molten polymer in melt pipelines while meeting the production capacity and reasonable pipeline pressure drop is a key factor in the design of melt flow pipelines.This study was based on computational fluid dynamics(CFD)method to numerically simulate the thermal degradation process of melt flowing through the pipeline.Based on the simulation results,a mixed integer nonlinear programming(MINLP)model and a discontinuous nonlinear programming(DNLP)model were proposed to optimize the design and layout of the pipeline,respectively.The results show that the viscosity drop of the optimized pipeline is reduced by 3.48%compared with the original pipeline by analyzing the numerical simulation results of real cases,while the pressure drop distribution range at the outlet is reduced by 60.47%,and the pressure drop distribution at the outlet is more uniform.This result indicates that the automated design and optimization of molten polymer flow pipelines can be achieved by utilization and integration of simulation methods and mathematical programming models.关键词
