Analysis of the Source and Migration of Heavy Metal Pollution in Beach Sediments Based on In-situ Magnetic Measurements

Abstract
The utilization of environmental magnetism has gained widespread recognition as a potent technique for assessing heavy metal contamination in sediment.This study aims to investigate volumet-ric magnetization rate values(κ)derived from in situ magnetic measurements and heavy metal content values to identify κ critical values for heavy metal contamination,and to trace the source and spread of heavy metal contamination in the sediments of two beaches in Qingdao.The results revealed that the No.1 beach was free of heavy metal contamination,while the sediments of the No.2 beach indicated slight Zn and Fe contamination,primarily originating from outfall wastewater discharge.The κ back-ground value of the granitic coast in Qingdao is approximately 600 × 10-5 SI.When κ surpasses 600 × 10-5 SI,the possibility of heavy metal contamination in the beach is probable,while κ above 1 600× 10-5 SI indicates slight pollution in the beach.When the higher K value of the same beach weight is over 50 times greater than the lower value,the beach experiences significant heavy metal pollution.The spread of heavy metals on beaches is impacted by pollution sources,wind and hydrodynamic factors,but is mainly influenced by urban discharge policies.This research illustrates how in situ magnetic measure-ments can be used to track heavy metal sources on beaches accurately,comprehend the extent of con-taminant dispersion,and facilitate effective beach ecosystem protection and beach pollution management policy development.关键词
