Changes and significance of TNF-α and IL-6 levels in umbilical cord blood of neonatal asphyxia

Abstract
Objective To investigate the changes and significance of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and interleukin-6(IL-6)levels in umbilical cord blood of neonatal asphyxia.Methods Pediatric patients of neonatal asphyxia admitted to Binhai Bay Central Hospital of Dongguan City from January 2021 to June 2023 were selected as the case group(n=49),of which mild symptoms were classified as the mild cases group(n=35)and severe symptoms were classified as the severe cases group(n=14).Simultaneously,normal neonates who gave birth in our hospital in the same period were classified as the control group(n=20).The levels of TNF-αand IL-6 in umbilical artery blood were detected by flow cytometry immunomagnetic beads method.The levels of TNF-α and IL-6 between the case group and the control group and between the severe cases group and the mild cases group were compared.The correlation of cytokines in the case group was analyzed,and the changes of cytokine levels in the severe cases group before and after intervention were compared.Results The levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in umbilical cord blood serum in pediatric patients of the case group were higher than those of the control group,and the severe cases group was higher than the mild cases group,with statistically significant differences(P＜0.05).There was a positive correlation between TNF-α and IL-6 in umbilical cord blood of pediatric patients in the case group,and the r value was 0.641,with statistically significant differences(P＜0.05).The levels of serum TNF-α and IL-6 in umbilical cord blood of pediatric patients in the severe cases group at birth were higher than those in peripheral blood in recovery period after intervention,with statistically significant differences(P＜0.05).Conclusion The levels of cytokines TNF-α and IL-6 in umbilical cord blood have important reference values in the diagnosis,condition evaluation and therapeutic efficacy evaluation of neonatal asphyxia.关键词
