Relationship between different clinical types and short-term prognosis in ICU Delirium patients

Abstract
Objective To explore the distribution of clinical subtypes of delirium patients and their relationship with short-term prognosis.Methods A total of 152 delirium patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit(ICU),Emergency Intensive Care Unit(EICU),Neurological Intensive Care Unit(NICU),and Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit were included.Patients were clinically classified according to standards,and indicators such as mechanical ventilation,delirium duration,ICU stay,and total hospital stay were collected.Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the distribu-tion of clinical subtypes and their relationship with short-term prognosis.Results Among the 152 cases,84 were male(55.3％)and 68 were female(44.7％),with an average age of(62.42±11.29)years.The distribution of clinical subtypes was hyperactive(42.8％)＞mixed(40.8％)＞hypoactive(16.4％).The mortality rates for the hyperac-tive,mixed,and hypoactive groups were 16.9％,37.1％,and 40.0％,respectively,with the hyperactive group having the lowest mortality rate and significant differences compared to the other two subtypes(P＜0.05).There were no signifi-cant differences in mortality rates between the mixed and hypoactive groups(P＞0.05).The total hospital stay for the hy-peractive,mixed,and hypoactive groups was 24.0(3.0,55.5),39.00(18.75,63.25),and 27.00(13.00,48.50)days,respectively.The hyperactive group had a shorter total hospital stay than the hypoactive group,with significant differences(P＜0.05).There were no significant differences in total hospital stay between the other subtypes(P＞0.05).ICU stay for the hyperactive,mixed,and hypoactive groups was 7.00(3.00,15.5),11.00(3.00,20.00),and 16.00(8.50,28.00)days,respectively.The hyperactive group had a shorter ICU stay compared to the hypoactive group,with significant differences(P＜0.05).There were no significant differences in ICU stay between the other sub-types(P＞0.05).Delirium duration for the hyperactive,mixed,and hypoactive groups was 3.00(1.00,6.00),2.50(1.00,4.25),and 6.00(4.00,9.00)days,respectively.The hypoactive group had the longest delirium duration,with significant differences compared to the other two subtypes(P＜0.05).There were no significant differences in deliri-um duration between the other subtypes(P＞0.05).Conclusion The hyperactive type of delirium is the most common clinical subtype.Patients with hypoactive and mixed delirium have worse short-term prognoses compared to those with hyperactive delirium.关键词
