摘要

Abstract

There existed several drawbacks of tradition Specialty English teaching,such as the teaching mode is monotonous,the teaching content is limited,and the outcome evaluation is conservative.It is an effective resolution to these issues by performing teaching reform through participatory teaching.This paper presents a case study of the participatory teaching design for the course of Specialty English for Geotechnical Engineering.Three extra lectures are added to the traditional teaching content from the textbook:they are features of English for science and technology,scientific paper reading and writing,and scenario simulation of Specialty English utilization.The overall teaching and learning process is under the supervision of the Superstar Learning Platform,ranging for pre-class preview,in-class teaching and after-class review.In addition,the in-class teaching is designed according to the BOPPPS method.Such participatory teaching design has dramatically enriched the teaching contents,modes and evaluation methods of this course,improved students'enthusiasm in the course learning,and elevated their participation in the learning process.It turns out to have desired teaching efficiency,and can provide reference for the Specialty English teaching in related universities.
