Abstract

That traffic accidents cause lane changes and deceleration of vehicles significantly impact the traffic ca-pacity of the road.In order to alleviate congestion at intersections caused by accidents,based on information of the location of the accident lane,the distance from the intersection and the scale of the accident,it is necessary to ana-lyze the changes law of traffic flow characteristics before and after the accident to study traffic impact and make the temporary signal timing plans that meet traffic demand.Based on the field survey accident data,a macroscopic traf-fic flow simulation model was conducted to determine the traffic volume,average speed,the maximum queue vehicle number,and average delay at the selected intersection to serve as optimization objectives.The effectiveness of four signal timing plans was validated by Simulation of Urban Mobility(SUMO).And,the performance of the plans was comprehensive evaluated by the model based on the Entropy weight-TOPSIS method.The results indicate that the impact of the accident location and scale on traffic operations exhibits a nonlinear pattern;Among the four signal timing plans,Plan 2 demonstrated the best overall optimization effect,with a 11.76%improvement in traffic volume in the accident direction,a 16.37%increase in average speed,a 12.59%reduction of average delay,and a 22.41%decrease of the maximum queue length.
