Digital industrialization and industrial digitization have stimulated the new mode of consumer demand and supply.While the digital economy has been developed,consumption expansion has been achieved,affecting the high-quality development of the economy.Based on the provincial panel data of China from 2010 to 2020,this paper measures the level of high-quality de-velopment and digital economy,and then uses the fixed effect threshold model to study the role of consumption expansion in digital economy to empower high-quality development.The research findings are shown as follows:Digital economy effectively promotes high-quality development.Affected by consumer supply,digital economy has a marginal increasing impact on high-quality eco-nomic development,while the growth of consumption demand leads to an inverted U-shaped relationship between digital economy and high-quality economic development,with different performances in different regions.
