The Revision of the Self-Connection Scale and Its Testing of Reliability and Validity among College Students

Abstract
Objective:This study aimed to revise the Chinese version of Self-Connection Scale(SCS)and test its reli-ability,validity and its measurement invariance across gender among college students in China.Methods:1385 college stu-dents were tested by convenience sampling method.Self-Compassion Scale(SCS),Life Satisfaction Scale(LSS)and Depres-sion-Anxiety-Stress Scale(DASS)were used as criteria,and 169 people were randomly selected for retest 2 weeks later.Results:The three-factor structure of the Chinese version of Self-Connection Scale was well fitted(y2/df=3.9 15,RMSEA=0.064,SRMR=0.034,CFI=0.978,TLI=0.969).The internal consistency coefficients of the whole scale and its three dimen-sions(self-awareness,self-acceptance and self-alignment)were 0.888,0.891,0.725 and 0.864 respectively,and the retest reliability respectively were 0.752,0.668,0.634 and 0.641 respectively.Correlation analysis showed that the total score of self-connection and its dimensions were significantly positively correlated with self-compassion(r=0.296~0.407)and life satisfaction(r=0.505~0.609),and were negatively correlated with depression(r=-0.224~-0.349),anxiety(r=-0.196~-0.279)and stress(r=-0.183~-0.258).The results of the multi-group confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the Chinese version of Self-Connection Scale had cross-gender measurement invariance.Conclusion:The Chinese version of Self-Connection Scale has good reliability,validity andcross-gender measurement invariance in Chinese college students,and can be used for a suitable tool for self-connection evaluation and related research among college students.关键词
