Abstract

Addressing the issue of frequent damage to the thrust bearings of the intermediate rolls in a domestic cold continuous rolling unit,an analysis of factors such as equipment wear and installation precision was conducted.It was determined that wear of the liner caused a shift in the axis of the intermediate roll,leading to excessive axial force,resulting in severe off-load and overheating during the bearing operation,ultimately causing damage.Therefore,based on the geometric analysis of the relative displacement of the intermediate roll and other rolls caused by the cross of the rolling rolls,which is a result of the intermediate roll axis shift,and combining the principle of pre-displacement for the contact of two rough elastic parts,the metal plastic deformation model and the roll elastic deformation model were applied.Methods for calculating the unit axial force in the viscous and sliding zones within the roll contact area were established,ultimately achieving a forecast of the total axial force of the intermediate roll.On this basis,considering the influence of the force distribution between the intermediate roll and the work roll,as well as the intermediate roll and the backup roll on the axial force,a management approach was determined to optimize the rolling schedule based on reducing the inter-roll force at the edges.An evaluation index for the distribution of inter-roll force was proposed,and the objective function for the management of the intermediate roll axial force was further determined.With the exit plate shape,axial force,and inter-roll force distribution evaluation index as constraints,the management technology for the intermediate roll axial force was established.The axial force forecast model was applied to the cold continuous rolling mill unit and compared with the actual and forecast values.Taking the typical steel grade S350GD+AZ as an example,the results showed that the calculation deviation of the forecast model in each stand was less than 8%.The application of the axial force management technology to the cold continuous rolling mill unit and the comparison of the process parameters before and after management showed that,while ensuring the exit plate shape,the axial force of the intermediate roll in each stand was significantly reduced,effectively avoiding the problem of bearing damage caused by excessive axial force of the intermediate roll,ensuring the stable production of the unit.
