Abstract

For the repair of small diameter thin-walled steel pipelines using B-type sleeves,there are problems such as the inconsistent requirements of various standards,unreasonable geometric dimensions of sleeves and delayed cracking caused by stress concentration at fillet welds.A finite element model of a B-type sleeve and the steel pipe with an outer diameter of 273 mm and a steel grade of L245 was established.The influence of the length,thickness,weld form,and installation clearance of the B-type sleeve on the stress of the sleeve fillet welds was analyzed.The results showed that when using B-type sleeve to repair the steel pipe,the sleeve wall thickness should not be less than 11.3 mm in the geologically stable zone,and should be between 11.3~17 mm for the geologically unstable zone.By controlling the width of the fillet weld to 1.5 times the height of the weld,the stress at the fillet weld can be effectively reduced,thereby reducing the probability of cracking at the sleeve fillet weld.When installing B-type sleeves,controlling the installation gap within the range of 1~4 mm can effectively avoid the influence of geometric deviations of steel pipes,welding workload on sleeve installation and weld stress levels.
