Abstract
In 2023,the operating results of the five major international oil companies generally declined due to the impact of the downward trend in international oil prices,but were still at a historically good level.Crude oil production generally increased and natural gas production declined to varying degrees.Capital expenditures were higher than expected,with investment in upstream businesses growing significantly and investment in low-carbon businesses slowing.As the global energy landscape continued to adjust,the five major international oil companies actively adjusted their development strategies,presenting three features:first,refocusing on upstream resource strategies and further upgrading the degree of optimization of core assets;second,assessing low-carbon projects in terms of investment returns and striving to enhance the profitability of low-carbon businesses;and third,continuing to optimize the organizational structure and improve management effectiveness.Timely monitoring of new trends in the strategies of the five major international oil companies can provide useful references for Chinese oil companies to enhance environmental adaptability,improve ideas,tools and methods for adjusting business strategies,and continuously improve capacity for generating efficiency.关键词
