Design of Frequency Reconfigurable Antenna Based on Metasurface

Abstract
Frequency reconfigurable antennas are widely used to reduce the antenna number in communication platforms,and then eliminate the electromagnetic interference between different systems.A bias circuit needs to be introduced in frequency reconfigurab-la antennas using electronic switches,and thus the antenna performance will be affected.In this paper,a frequency reconfigurable slot antenna through mechanical tune is presented.The antenna is composed of a Metasurfae(MS)with a periodic arrangement of isosceles trapezoidal units and a slot antenna.A hexagonal groove etched in the ground plane of the slot antenna is used to broaden the impedance bandwidth.The equivalent relative permittivity can be changed by mechanically rotating the MS,and then the fre-quency reconfiguration is achieved.The simulated and measured results show that the operating bandwidth of the antenna can be switched in the band of 54.3%(2.32 GHz—4.05 GHz).A good radiation pattern is obtained in the operating band,and the peak gain is 5.5 dBi.关键词
