Abstract

A portable X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy method was established for the rapid on-site determination of trace thallium in surface water.The dedicated cation exchange resin enrichment head was used to pre-enrich thallium in water samples for determination by a high-precision portable energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer.The optimal pre-enrichment and testing conditions for water samples are as follows:water sample pH 5,the enrichment flow of 6 mL/min,the pre-enrichment volume of 60 mL,and the measurement time of 300 s.The detection limit of the method is 0.02 μg/L,and the determination limit is 0.08 μg/L.The relative standard deviation(n=7)of parallel sample determination is 3.89%-13.20%,and the average recovery rate of the real samples is 73.0%-98.7%,all of which meet the relevant standard requirements.According to comparative test results with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry on actual water samples,the method has such characteristics as simple operation,time-saving,low detection limit,and high accuracy.Meeting the requirements of rapid on-site analysis,this method has the potential for emergency monitoring in sudden water environmental accidents involving thallium.
