The ITU-T Y.4221,Requirements of IoT-based electric power infrastructure monitoring systems,was officially released by ITU-T SG20 in July 2024.This standard offers guidance on maintaining such monitoring systems.This paper introduces the overall framework of the ITU-T Y.4221 standard,explains key terms and definitions,and conducts an in-depth analysis of its core technical aspects.The objective is to enhance the understanding of the ITU-T Y.4221's core principles and technical concepts among relevant organizations in China.It will help these organizations effectively integrate IoT technologies into the design and development of their electric power infrastructure monitoring systems in alignment with the guidelines provided by ITU-T Y.4221.Consequently,this can improve system reliability and security during the operation of power infrastructure,enabling more efficient and intelligent management of power systems.
