Abstract

In order to investigate the reliability of rapidly selecting maize inbred lines using apomictic reproductive technology,Wannuo 2000 was utilized as the experimental material.The agronomic traits of the induced posterity and their parents were measured,the uniformity and coefficient of variation were calculated at both flowering and maturity stages to confirm the practicality and credibility of apomictic reproductive technology.The results revealed that ap-proximately 20%to 40%of the induced posterity exhibited superiority over their parents in terms of plant height and stem diameter.A4 and A17 demonstrated a higher level of uniformity with a coefficient of variation of 0.027.The stem diameter of A29 displayed superior uniformity and the coefficient of variation was 0.048.Furthermore,around 30%to 50%showed improvements in panicle length and panicle diameter compared to their parents.A1 exhibited superior uniformity in panicle length with a coefficient of variation of 0.013,while A11 displayed superior uniformity in panicle diameter with a coefficient of variation of 0.009.It can be concluded that is feasible inducing maize apomixis using chemical reagents.This method provides a new approach for shortening the breeding cycle of maize.
