摘要

Abstract

The cochlear ribbon synapse is a crucial afferent structure for auditory information conversion and con-duction,with special molecular expression.And this synapse has been described as an early-onset point in an aging co-chlea.Previous studies have demonstrated that proteostasis is of great significance to aging changes,also true in cochle-ar aging.In this paper,we provide insights into the two major protein degradation pathways,i.e.the ubiquitin-protea-some system(UPS)and the autophagy-lysosome pathway(ALP),respectively,which are critical mechanisms for clear-ing misfolded or unfolded proteins.Studies on dysregulation of protein degradation mechanisms have revealed the influ-ences of protein homeostasis on synaptic lesions in the aging cochlea.Therefore,regulating protein homeostasis may of-fer considerable and potential possibilities to treat age-related hearing loss.
