A review of the management and control of air-cooled proton exchange membrane fuel cell fan system

Abstract
The fuel cell fan system is a key component of the air-cooled proton exchange membrane fuel cell for thermal management and high output performance.Its management and control are essential to improve the performance of the battery.In this paper,the structure and working principle of air-cooled proton exchange membrane fuel cells are introduced,and the important role of wind turbine system in air-cooled proton exchange membrane fuel cells is emphasized.Then,the research on the management and control of air-cooled proton exchange membrane fuel cell fan system by domestic and foreign scholars is reviewed from three aspects:the fan inlet mode of the fan system,the fan operating parameters and control strategies that affect the air flow rate and temperature distribution.Specifically,it includes:(1) the study of the uniformity of fuel cell gas flow distribution and the stability of the output performance of single cells by various cathode inlet modes such as"blowing","suction"and"diversion";(2) research on different fan operating parameters that affect air velocity and temperature distribution,such as fan installation position,fan speed and air flow pulsation;(3) the control strategies of wind turbine systems,including traditional PID control,sliding mode control,fuzzy control and neural network control,are summarized.Finally,we offer some suggestions for future research on the management and control of fuel cell fan systems for the air-cooled proton exchange membrane fuel cells.关键词
