Abstract

The development of environmental materials that can effectively remove heavy metals and organic pollu-tants simultaneously is of great significance for the green and efficient treatment of industrial wastewater.In this paper,magnesium aluminum hydrotalcite(MgAl-LDH)was synthesized by hydrothermal method,and calcined hydrotalcite(LDO)was prepared by high-temperature treatment.Based on the analysis of the structure and properties of the calcined product,the performance of LDO in removing Sb(Ⅴ)and Congo red(CR)under calcination tempera-ture,initial mass concentration,contact time,and coexisting system conditions was studied using static batch method.The results indicate that calcination temperature has a significant effect on the removal of Sb(Ⅴ)and CR by LDO.At a calcination temperature of 500℃,the removal capacity can reach 426.4 mg/g and 1 516.2 mg/g,respectively.This is because the specific surface area and pore volume of LDO increase after high-temperature calcination,and LDO has a strong ability to capture Sb(Ⅴ)and CR anion pollution after reconstructing the layered structure in contact with aqueous solution;The removal capacity of Sb(Ⅴ)and CR by LDO increases rapidly in the first 3 h,and then increases slowly,reaching adsorption equilibrium at about 6 h.This is because at the beginning,LDO has a large number of active sites,and with the increase of contact time,Sb(Ⅴ)and CR are accumulated and adsorbed on its surface and occupy part of the active sites.The adsorbent needs to overcome a larger steric hindrance to react with the adsorbent,so the adsorption rate slows down until the adsorption site on the LDO surface is completely occupied and the adsorp-tion equilibrium is reached.The removal capacity increases gradually with the increase of the initial mass concentra-tion,because the higher concentration makes the adsorbent more easily break through the mass transfer resistance between the liquid phase and the solid adsorbent surface.The removal capacity of Sb(Ⅴ)and CR by LDO in the co-existing system is slightly lower than that in the single system,which may be related to the competition between Sb(Ⅴ)and CR for the liquid phase Mg2+leached by LDO and the surface adsorption site of LDO.Ldo mainly relies on electrostatic gravity,complexation,crystalline precipitation and MgAl-LDH memory effect to achieve the simulta-neous efficient removal of Sb(Ⅴ)and CR.
