Abstract

This study addresses the actual situation where the impact of filter materials is often ignored in the Yinbei irrigation district of Ningxia as a background,the hydraulic parameters of the subsurface drain considering the filter materials were calculated based on the concept of"effective radius"proposed by Widmoser.The results of the drainage pipe spacing calculations were compared and analyzed between those considering filter materials and those not considering them.Physical model tests of seepage and numerical simulations were used for validation and analysis.On this basis,a grey relational analysis method was employed to establish the grey relational coefficients between the design parameters of the subsurface drainage engineering and the drainage flow rate.The results indicate that in the transient seepage calculations for the engineering case,the spacing of subsurface drains considering the filter materials differs from that not considering them by 27.239%.The grey correlation degrees between filter material thickness,drain spacing,and drainage flow rate are 0.741 and 0.739,respectively,with a more significant correlation between filter material thickness and drainage flow rate.In the context of reclaimed water reuse,it is recommended that the influence of filter materials be included in the hydraulic calculations for subsurface drainage projects using composite filter materials.
