Abstract

AIM To explore the application effect of case teaching and flipped classroom in pharmacoeconomics teaching.METHODS Using a cluster sampling method,98 students from the 2019-2020 class of the five-year clinical pharmacy undergraduate program were selected as subjects of the study.The teaching of pharmacoeconomics course was carried out by case teaching and flipped classroom.The students'understanding,overall satisfaction,learning interest and student engagement were investigated.RESULTS Among the 98 five-year clinical pharmacy undergraduates,88.8%of students fully participated in the course,with an overall satisfaction rate of 84.2%,and 84.7%of students were willing to recommend the course.Model analysis and uncertainty analysis were the most challenging,with only 16.3%and 17.4%of students indicating they"fully understood"these topics.Over 80%of students believed that literature presentations at least partially facilitated their learning,and nearly three-quarters indicated that the self-selected literature method increased their interest in learning.CONCLUSION Students generally satisfy with the pharmacoeconomics course,but there are significant difficulties in understanding model analysis and uncertainty analysis.Literature presentation and flipped classroom teaching methods effectively enhance learning interest and comprehension.It is recommended to strengthen the teaching of challenging chapters,and continuously optimize teaching methods,thereby helping students gain a deeper understanding of core pharmacoeconomics concepts.
