Abstract
The paper functions as a book review on English Prepositions written by R.M.W.Dixon,including an introduction,a summary of its contents,key viewpoints,and a critical evaluation.The book provides a detailed description of the meanings of English prepositions,covering both their core and extended meanings,filling a gap in the previous semantic researches on prepositions.In addition,the framework holds significant typological relevance,allowing for an in-depth study of the grammatical systems and semantic encodings of prepositions in specific languages,thereby facilitating the typological investigation of different languages in the world.关键词
