摘要

Abstract

The lithium metal negative electrode is considered the'holy grail'of lithium batteries owing to its highly negative electrochemical potential(-3.04 V vs.the standard hydrogen electrode)and high specific capacity(3 860 mAh/g).However,during the charge and discharge processes of the battery,the growth of lithium dendrites reduces the coulombic efficiency of the battery and may even cause a short circuit if uncontrollable lithium dendrites pierce the separator,thereby posing safety hazards such as thermal runaway,seriously limiting the practical application of lithium metal negative electrodes.Based on this,the problems of lithium metal dendrite growth and interface reactions are discussed in detail.This section introduces the challenges facing the application of lithium metal anodes in recent years and the growth mechanism of lithium metal dendrites.The related research progress in inhibiting the growth of lithium metal dendrites is summarized,and the mechanisms of lithium dendrite growth,dead lithium generation,and battery failure are analyzed in depth.At the same time,a series of improvement methods are described,including increasing the specific surface area of the electrode through the design of the current collector structure to reduce local current density;improving the mechanical strength and flexibility of the SEI layer to prevent rupture of the SEI film and the growth of lithium dendrites;and optimizing the electrolyte to effectively inhibit the growth process of lithium dendrites.
