摘要
Abstract
The study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with compound probiotics on the fecal microbiota of British shorthair cats.Twenty-four British Shorthair cats were selected, and fresh fecal samples were collected before supplementation,10 days after, and 20 days after the supplementation with the compound probiotics.Fecal bacterial diversity, composition, and the impact on the host's physiological functions were analyzed using 16S rDNA sequencing technology. The results showed that compared to before supplementation, there were no changes in the average body weight and daily food intake of the cats, and no difference in fecal scores. However, after supplementation with the compound probiotics, the diversity of the fecal microbiota in cats significantly improved, with greater changes in the early stage and a tendency to stabilize in the later stage. The relative abundance of Lactobacillus,Bifidobacterium, and Enterococcus in the feces increased, and the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio increased.Predictions of physiological function interactions revealed that the addition of the probiotic mixture promoted physiological processes such as short-chain fatty acid production, glucuronic acid degradation, and inositol degradation in the host, while weakening processes such as the urea cycle. The study indicates that the addition of the compound probiotics to the diet maintained the balance of the gut microbiota, promoted the proliferation of probiotics, and is beneficial to the intestinal health of the British shorthair cats.关键词
