Abstract
Objective To compare the clinical effect of phacoemulsification and small incision extracapsular cataract extraction in the treatment of elderly cataract patients. Methods 80 cases(100 eyes)of elderly cataract patients were selected and divided into group A(42 cases,50 eyes, phacoemulsification)and group B(38 cases,50 eyes, small incision extracapsular cataract extraction)according to different surgical methods. The corneal endothelial cell condition(corneal endothelial cell count, corneal endothelial cell loss rate),intraocular pressure, visual acuity and complications were compared between the two groups. Results The corneal endothelial cell count of group A at 1 month after operation was higher than that of group B,and the corneal endothelial cell loss rate was lower than that of group B(P<0.05).1 month and 3 months after operation, the intraocular pressure of group A were lower than those of group B,and the visual acuity were higher than those of group B(P<0.05).No statistical difference was found in the incidence of postoperative complications between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions Compared with small incision extracapsular cataract extraction, phacoemulsification can significantly reduce the corneal endothelial cell loss in elderly cataract patients, reduce the intraocular pressure, and improve the visual acuity, with higher safety.关键词
