Abstract

The large amount of wind power connected to offshore oil and gas platforms has a negative impact on the frequency stability of the system.In actual production,the adjustable and partial production loads represented by the injection pumps account for 30%of the total load,and their power variations or even start-up and shutdown have little impact on production.This type of load has not been directly involved in the frequency regulation of the offshore platform in previous studies,but has a great potential for frequency regulation and a fast response time.Without affecting the production of the offshore platform,it can provide the right amount of wind power consumption and fast frequency response support,adjust its own speed and regulate the required active power following the system frequency.In this paper,a frequency control strategy is proposed for an offshore platform in which the adjustable load follows the system frequency or follows the wind power output.The effect of each control parameter and objective factors on the frequency control effect is investigated by analyzing the speed giving methods of following the combustion engine and following the wind power output.The simulation results show that the strategy makes full use of the FM capacity of the adjustable load,effectively improves the frequency characteristics of the offshore platform,and provides a technical reference for improving the wind power penetration rate and achieving the goal of"dual carbon".
