Abstract

In order to investigate the effects of different irrigation decisions on strawberry growth,yield and quality,four treatments were set according to the position of moisture sensor and the method of irrigation stop based on water sensor,which were used for irrigation management in the middle and late stage of strawberry substrate cultivation.T1,T2 and T3 processed moisture sensors located at distances of 0、0 cm,7.5、0 cm,and 0、10 cm from the plant and substrate surface,respectively.The field water capacity of matrix and the monitoring value of moisture sensor were used to calculate the irrigation amount.The position of the moisture sensor in T4 treatment was the same as that of T1.The irrigation stop was triggered directly by the moisture sensor monitoring value.The photosynthetic characteristics,water use efficiency and yield of strawberries under different treatments were determined.The results showed that the total irrigation quantity of the four treatments showed the order of T4>T2>T3>T1,and T2 and T4 treatments respectively improved the photosynthesis and water use efficiency of strawberry leaves in the middle and later stages of cultivations.The single fruit weight in T2 treatment was the highest,with a single plant yield of 107.8 g,significantly increasing by 36.8%,18.1%and 10.1%compared with other treatments(P<0.05).The fruit hardness and soluble sugar content in T2 treatment were the highest,and significantly higher than other three treatments during the middle cultivation stage(P<0.05).During storage,the decay rate was the lowest and the decay rate was the slowest in T2 treatment.On the 7th day,the decay rate in T2 treatment decreased by 25.0%,14.2%and 7.7%,respectively,compared with T1,T3 and T4 treatments.In summary,the moisture sensor layout distance is 7.5 cm from the plant,0 cm from the substrate surface and the decision to stop irrigation based on the field water holding capacity of the substrate and the monitoring values values of the moisture sensors(T2)are more conductive to increasing strawberry yield and quality,and are suitable for irrigation management in the middle and later stages of strawberry substrate cultivation.
