Abstract

To address the current difficulties in quantifying carbon emission data from pig farming and the lack of direction for emission reduction,this study firstly established a carbon emission accounting method for pig farms,then carbon emissions accounting was conducted on 170 pig farms in Quzhou City,and combined with indicators such as carbon emission intensity,dark green,yellow,and red were classified to provide a reference for the accurate implementation of local agricultural policies.The results showed that:1)The net carbon emission from pig farms in Quzhou City was 254 t,of which 46%could be offset by carbon sequestration from biogas utilization and application of organic fertilizer.CH4 emissions from manure management and enteric fermentation,and CO2 emissions from purchased electricity were the main sources of carbon emissions.2)The average carbon intensity of all farms was 0.51 t,with 34,68,60 and 8 dark green,light green,yellow and red labeled farms,respectively.The carbon emissions of dark green labeled farms in all segments were lower than those of other labeled farms.Therefore,outdated labeling farms should focus on the process of feces and urine management and energy consumption,and actively explore low-carbon feces treatment modes and the development of clean energy in order to promote the green and low-carbon development of the pig industry in Quzhou City.
