Introduction and Application of Standards for Conducting and Reporting Rapid Reviews in Healthcare Research

Abstract
Objective To promote the use and popularization of rapid reviews(RRs)in medical research,and lay a foundation for further standardization of RRs in the field of Chinese medicine(CM)by summarizing existing standards for conducting and reporting of RRs and exploring their current application status.Methods Firstly,PubMed,EMBase,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,CNKI,Wanfang Data,VIP,SinoMed,International Health Technology Assessment,UpToDate,Yimaitong,and the references in the literature were retrieved in this study.After screening,existing standards for conducting and reporting RRs,as well as methodological researches were collected.Then items were extracted and interpreted.Secondly,PubMed and CNKI,including empirical studies using standards for conducting and reporting RRs were retrieved and studied in this research.The descriptive analyses of the application status were conducted.Results The research included were 5 papers focusing on standards for conducting and reporting RRs and 13 methodological studies,which were summarized into 30 items concerning 9 areas:defining a practice question,writing research proposals,setting eligibility criteria,literature retrieval,data screening,data extraction,methodological quality assessment,evidence synthesis,and other considerations.When analyzing the application states of included standards for conducting and reporting RRs,there were 2 studies included,both focusing on COVID-19 but not involving CM.They conducted rapid processes during literature retrieval(time/date/database),data screening,data extraction,or methodological quality evaluation.Conclusions A set of 30-items standards of conducting and reporting RRs were summarized and interpreted in this study,which could be taken as a minimum reference for RRs applications.Currently the application of these standards is limited,and no application has been found in the field of CM.关键词
