Abstract

Activated carbon prepared from durian shells was used to adsorb cationic organic malachite green dye.SEM,FTIR,and some other methods were used to characterize the durian shell-based activated carbon.This paper investigated the effects of adsorption temperature,adsorption time,initial solution pH,the addition amount of durian shell-based activated carbon,malachite green mass concentration,and others on the adsorption ability of the activated carbon on the material.Characterization results show that the prepared activated carbon has a favorable adsorption ability with a well-developed pore structure.According to the experimental results,the best conditions for absorbing malachite green include a temperature of 25℃,an adsorption time of 360 min,an initial solution pH of 6,an addition amount of durian shell-based activated carbon of 40 mg/L,and an initial malachite green mass concentration of 200 mg/L.Under the above conditions,the capacity of adsorbing malachite green by the activated carbon is 186 mg/g,and the removal rate of malachite green reaches 91.8%.
