Based on the panel data of 278 cities at prefecture level and above in China from 2011 to 2021,this paper con-structs an index system for digital economy development level and industrial intelligence level,and discusses the influence mecha-nism,threshold effect and spatial spillover effect of digital economy on the upgrading of urban industrial structure.The findings are shown as the following:Digital economy has a significant role in promoting the upgrading of urban industrial structure and the threshold effect of financial development;digital economy affects the upgrading of urban industrial structure through the transmis-sion mechanism of industrial intelligence;city grade and regional heterogeneity can be used to explain the differences in the im-pact of the digital economy on the upgrading of industrial structure,and the role of high-grade cities and the central and western regions in promoting the upgrading of industrial structure is significant,while that of low-grade cities and the eastern regions is not significant;digital economy has a positive spatial spillover effect on the industrial structure upgrading of neighboring cities.
