Abstract

In order to comprehensively and quantitatively evaluate biosafety risk factors related to ovine brucellosis transmission and its herd true prevalence(TPh),articles on cross-sectional and case-control studies were selected from databases both in Chinese and English languages,the risk factors of ovine brucellosis transmission was quantitatively evaluated using dichotomous variable Meta-analysis,and the TPh of ovine brucellosis was evaluated using single proportion Meta-analysis,followed by article sensitivity analysis.Five articles were included in the evaluation of ovine brucellosis risk factors,from which 8 risk factors were selected,and 8 articles were considered in the TPh.The most significant risk factor spreading brucellosis was mixed feeding with outsourced sheep,with a combined OR value of 11.88,then were the sheep introduced within one-year(OR=4.80),non-disinfection on lambing premises(OR=4.40)and shared/exchanged stud rams(OR=3.02),P<0.05;and the potential risk factors(P>0.05)included brokers entering sheep pens within one year(OR=4.21),non-disinfection at entrance to the farm(OR=2.20),untreated aborted ewes(OR=2.06)and mixing with other animals(OR=1.09).The TPh was 22%(95%CI:5%-39%)in northern region,and 0-3%(95%CI:0-6%)in southern region,the combined prevalence rate was 11%(95%CI:6%-17%).In conclusion,it was recommended to strengthen biosafety risk management on sheep farms with a priority to control of the risk factors of ovine brucellosis transmission and concern about potential risk factors,to improve supervision over sheep transportation,to implement targeted prevention and control strategies,and to facilitate prevention and purification of Brucellosis among animals.
