Abstract

The structural parameters of transducers play a critical role in determining their performance.To meet the high-resolution requirements for transducers,a single-element,self-focused ultrasonic transducer with a semi-concave design at 30 MHz is devised.In order to systematically investigate the variations in acoustic field characteristics of the semi-concave focused ultrasonic transducer,a mathematical model for sound pressure distribution is first established utilizing the Rayleigh integral and Huygens-Fresnel principle.Subsequently,finite element analysis methods are employed to analyze the effects of key geometric parameters on the transducer's sound field distribution and overall performance,such as the radius of curvature and the depth of the concave surface.Simulation results demonstrate that within a certain range,both the acoustic pressure at the focus and the-6 dB axial focal zone depth of the transducer increase as the radius of curvature and the depth of the concave surface are increased.Moreover,it is found that the-6 dB lateral main beam width of the transducer decreases with increasing radius of curvature and concave depth.Comparatively,while a spherical focused transducer of the same radius of curvature exhibits a main beam width of 0.4 mm,the semi-concave focused transducer under study boasts a significantly narrower main beam width of only 0.2 mm,thus illustrating the superior focusing capabilities of the designed high-frequency semi-concave transducer.The research provides a novel foundation and a new modeling approach for the subsequent design and optimization of focused transducers,underscoring the exceptional focusing properties of the developed high-frequency semi-concave transducer.
