Study of the Relationship between Degree of Fill and Dispersive Mixing for a Co-rotating Twin-screw Extruder
摘要
Abstract
In the field of twin-screw extruders, the degree of fill is used to characterize the occupancy of the material in the flow channel. The level of occupancy affects the proportion of the gas-liquid boundary in the flow channel, which in turn affects the velocity field, the pressure field and the residence time inside the barrel. In the working process of a coaxial twin-screw extruder, the degree of filling inside the barrel affects the mixing capacity, which leads to deviations in the quality of the finished product. On the other hand, although the degree of fill measurement method has been studied in recent years, there is no prediction model for the degree of fill of an co-rotating twin-screw extruder under different working conditions. For this reason, carboxymethyl cellulose sodium(CMC-Na)fluid at room temperature is used as the fluid for experiments.Experiments to obtain the relationship model of screw speed, feed rate and degree of fill are carried out on a self-developed experimental co-rotating twin-screw extruder. The corresponding relationship between screw speed, feed rate and degree of fill is obtained through experiments. And an prediction model for degree of fill of a co-rotating twin-screw extruder is established.According to the prediction model, experiments for the effect of degree of fill on the dispersive mixing of a co-rotating twin-screw extruder are carried out.The experimental results show that the dispersive mixing ability of a co-rotating twin-screw extruder is better when the degree of fill is between 0.4 to 0.6.关键词
