Impact of Digital Finance Development on Urban Green TFP:Effects and Mechanisms

Abstract
Based on the panel data of 278 cities at prefecture level and above in China from 2011 to 2022,this paper exam-ines the impact of digital finance development on green total factor productivity(TFP).The results show that the development of digital finance is conducive to improving the green total factor productivity of cities,and that the results are still robust after a se-ries of robustness tests.The heterogeneity analysis results show that the positive impact of digital finance development on urban green total factor productivity is stronger in peripheral cities than in core cities,and stronger in central and western regions than in eastern regions,which verifies the positive role of digital finance development in alleviating the imbalance and insufficiency of re-gional development.The mechanism test results show that the development of digital finance promotes the green total factor pro-ductivity of cities through promoting green innovation and upgrading the industrial structure.In addition,in cities with relatively strict environmental regulations,the development of digital finance has a more obvious promoting effect on green total factor pro-ductivity,which reflects the urgency of strengthening the design of effective environmental regulations.关键词
